how we learn.

I’ve done nothing.

When you pick me up at the end of the day,

you’ll ask, ‘what have you done today’, ‘nothing’ I say.

I haven’t played in the sand or the mud or used lots of fruit to make a fab pud.

I didn’t make bread with flour and fresh yeast.

I haven’t experimented with jelly and slime, nor peeled the veg for our homemade soup.

I haven’t solved problems such as fastening my coat, nor have I pretended to sail a boat.

I haven’t had time to play with my peers or look after a friend who has shed some tears.

I haven’t been giggling or running about or exploring the farm with a shriek and a shout.

Play is the way I learn the best, not sitting down and doing a test.

I’m just having fun, that’s what I say,

I don’t even know I’m learning through play.
